“Despite the abstract and non-figurative works’ immediate dissociation with reality they seem to have an indefinable connection with everything outside the work itself. His works of art reflect the world, seen from a perspective that endows it with endless possibilities. Still the element of something ‘uncanny’ lies within them, as a hidden power in the artworks, which seems provoked by the lack of representable content; pure, empty space, beginning and ending at the same time; they reflect, for better or for worse, the world, as it seems if pinching one’s eyes until, only shapes and lights are visible, a kind of extremely condensed realism, if you like.

Ernlund Jørgensen’s architectural embossed drawings and paintings reflect an interest in space which he has in common with the 60s minimalists but as Ernlund Jørgensen’s works are both organic and more sensual, imbued with subjectivity and personality, they radically expands the minimalists’ conception of the artwork as nothing but ‘a flat surface with paint on it’.”
